The ideal CV is one that is tailored to fit the role; it should be easy to read, in an obvious order and must be honest and accurate. Try to limit it to a few pages and if you had a break in your career please provide details so there are no unexplained gaps.
Please proof read every document you submit; don’t just rely on computer spell checks.
Below is a suggested guide on content for a CV.
Personal Details - should come first so we can immediately see how to contact you. You should at least include name, home address, phone numbers, email address, nationality and if applicable visa status.
Career Objective – this is down to personal preference but if you do wish to include one please ensure it is relevant to the role you are applying for.
Education – including the qualification, institution and year it was attained.
Personal Associations – for example Member of the Australian Institute of Management.
Employment Overview – this allows the reader to see at a glance the progression of your career.
Employment History – Start with your most recent job first and outline in reverse chronological order. You might like to include a short over view of the company so we are familiar with its operations and include the job title and dates of employment. Please briefly outline your key responsibilities and achievements and who you reported to. The achievements should address how they benefited or impacted the employer. You may wish to format this using bullet points
Additional Skills and Training – such as computer skills, workshops etc.
Interests – enabling us to get a better insight into you as a person.
Referees – We will only contact your referees once we have your permission. Please include past employers/managers with landline telephone numbers. Please advise your referees that they may be contacted.
